One of the fourteen pioneers from the East Coast who helped settle and found the small mountain town of South Park in 1867, Great Grandpa Marsh lived to a ripe old age and committed assisted suicide with the help of his grandson, [[Marvin Marsh]]. When his elderly grandson tried to get [[Stan Marsh|his own grandson]]'s help, [[Death (character)|Death]] tapped Great Grandpa's Ghost to communicate with his grandson and apologize for putting him into such a position. His memory has since been invoked by his great-grandson [[Jimbo Kern]] in defending the town's racist flag.
