Long ago, Moroni was one of countless white Native Americans who came to America from Jerusalem, where they were visited by Jesus Christ. The other tribe of Israel killed them all, so God turned their skin 'red', creating the modern Native Americans. Before Moroni's tribe died, they buried an ancient book written on gold plates and two seer stones allowing them to be translated. Moroni, as an Angel, appears before Joseph Smith, asking him to translate the documents... but later tells him he cannot let anyone else see the gold plates or seer stones.
