These kids are huge fans of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter' book series so they dress up in wizard robes and play in their backyards and cast spells. They're not popular though - the Grand Wizard King himself declared them "fags" during a brief pass through their town. Filmore Anderson and Craig Tucker may have joined them to play Harry Potter when they left the boys behind.
