Story
Jimbo and Ned's efforts to drive up the ratings for their new hunting show threatens to edge out an old favorite, Jesus and Pals.
Description
The boys interview Jimbo Kern and Ned Gerblansky about their Vietnam experiences for a class project. Unfortunately the men are less than truthful, stating American military camps were equipped with amusement park rides and that they single-handedly defeated the Viet Cong. The boys get an F from Mr. Garrison, who assumes they made it all up.
To get revenge, the boys fake videos of the legendary Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lanka, which can kill at a glance. Jimbo and Ned air the videos on their cable access show, Huntin' and Killin' With Jimbo and Ned. They are a big hit with the program's incredulous viewers, who abandon its competitor Jesus and Pals in droves. Jesus' producer fights back by changing his program's format into something a bit more Jerry Springer-esque.
Disaster ensues when Jimbo and Ned decide to pursue the real Staring Frog. When Ned sees a fake one set up by the boys he becomes comatose with fright. At the hospital the kids own up to their fakery.
Jimbo, Ned and the boys appear on Jesus and Pals to iron out their differences. Thanks to the show's producer who encourages them to lie, it doesn't work out that way. Jimbo claims Stan is a drug-addicted Satan worshipper, while Stan says Jimbo molested him. Chaos ensues, which Jesus ends with a very un-Savior-like "Shut the fuck up!" He sends his producer to Hell for her transgressions.
What I Learned Today
"Look at all the pain and suffering your lie has caused."
"In our competition for ratings we lost sight of why we got into show business in the first place."
Memorable Quotes
- "Comin' up next, we're gonna drop some napalm on an unsuspecting family of beavers." (Jimbo Kern)

- "So you see, we have to kill animals or else they'll die." (Jimbo Kern)
- "No, I wasn't in Vietnam. But sometimes I like to pretend I was." (Mr. Garrison)
- "We did it Ned! We killed the entire Viet Cong army!" (Jimbo Kern)

- "Revenge is so very, very sweet." (Eric Cartman)

Characters
Body Count

Behind The Scenes
Where Did The Idea Come From
The title is a play on The Giant Beaver Of Southern Sri Lanka, Trey's first film parodying Godzilla and other Japanese monster movies using beavers. It was a student short for the same film class where Trey met Matt. The film's title was in turn a reference to Mark Twain's 1865 short story The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.

Shout Outs
While in the hospital Jimbo reads Ned S. E. Hinton's novel The Outsiders.
Cartman asks Mr. Garrison what Vietnam is by saying, "What's Vietnam? A question a child might ask, but not a childish question." This line is from a TV commercial for The Vietnam Experience, a 1980's book series from Time-Life.
The late 60's song "Time of the Season" by The Zombies is played during Ned and Jimbo's Vietnam flashback. Also, the song "Nothing From Nothing" by Billy Preston is covered by Jesus' studio band The Disciples.
Jesus and Pals is reformatted to be very similar to The Jerry Springer Show. Furthermore, Jesus releases Jesus and Pals: Too Hot for TV featuring raunchy and vulgar outtakes from his show. This is a spoof on Springer's uncensored tape series Jerry Springer: Too Hot for TV.
Pwn'd
One of Jesus' audience members mistakenly refers to him as "Montel", as in Montel Williams who had his own talk show called The Montel Williams Show. The audience member then launches into a largely irrelevant defense on Michael Jackson, who at the time had been accused of child molestation.
Bob Denver, best known as Gilligan from the TV show Gilligan's Island, makes an awkward appearance on Jesus' show.
Bonus Factoids
Pointless Observations
- When Jesus' producer goes to Hell, she meets Satan and Saddam Hussein. It's the first time they're portrayed as lovers.
- During Ned and Jimbo's Vietnam flashback we learn that Ned formerly possessed a beautiful, melodious man voice.
- This is the first and last time Ned and Jimbo's public access show Huntin' and Killin' appears. We learn that their go-to phrase "It's coming right for us!" no longer works. Instead, they yell "Thin out their numbers!"
- During the flashbacks, animators spliced in real video footage of the Vietnam War. Also, when the general shows Jimbo a map of where they are stationed in Vietnam, it is actually a map of Italy.
- Ned apparently won the Purple Heart medal, which is awarded to US military members who are wounded or killed while serving.
